Bee Pollen Health Benefits – The Secret Health Benefit To Adding Bee Pollen To Your Diet
Author: Bobbie Mitchell
New research suggests that the bee pollen health benefits are due to the antioxidant activity of different chemicals found inside. They are not your typical antioxidants like vitamin C and E. They have long multi-syllable names that are difficult to pronounce and nearly impossible to spell correctly. Those names are indicative of their unique nature.
It has been said that the antioxidant activity will vary depending on the plants from which the pollens are gathered. But, many of the antioxidants described in a recent study conducted in Japan have not been identified in plants, definitely not in the plants frequented by the bees. Who knows why the unique antioxidants are present?
While there are many things we know about nature, there is lots left to learn. Great minds of the coming century will likely unravel many of the mysteries. But, there will always be something left to explain. We’ll never know all there is to know.
We do know that antioxidants scavenge free radical molecules, neutralizing them before they can damage cellular membranes or DNA strands. If left unchecked, free radical damage can cause mutations within the cell that eventually lead to the formation of a cancerous growth.
Is cancer prevention among the bee pollen health benefits? That’s something we cannot say for a certainty. As of yet, we have not been able to cure or reverse cancer by using antioxidants except in the test tube.
It does seem appear that eating foods with high in antioxidants reduces a person’s risk of some types of cancer and possibly heart disease. The most common type of age-related heart disease is atherosclerosis. It is caused by oxidation of fats on the interior walls of the arteries. In order to reduce the risk of heart disease, we need to prevent the fats from building up and prevent them from being oxidized. That’s what antioxidants do.
So, one of the bee pollen health benefits could be a reduced risk of heart disease. We don’t know. What we do know is that people who have taken the supplement find they have more energy and it is easier to lose weight. Losing weight and increased physical activity are always recommended in the effort to reduce the incidence of heart disease.
It is important to remember that the supplements on the market vary greatly in terms of quality. If you want to check out the bee pollen health benefits for yourself, you need to be sure to choose a good supplement.
