“Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!” (Hebrews 13:2 NLT)
I attended the candle light Christmas eve service at my church. I was caught up in my own little world and in a hurry to get home to go visit family. On my drive home I was driving down this dark 2 lane highway. The hillsides were about 5 feet off to the side of the road. I had my high beams on and off to the side of the road I saw what appeared to be a woman dressed up for Christmas. She was standing up against the hill side facing the road.
I instantly thought of those lost and lonely people during this time of the year. I then prayed to God that she wasn’t out there contemplating suicide by walking into traffic. Then I prayed for all those that were alone & sad during the holiday season. This all happened within seconds after I had passed her. I felt the Spirit telling me to turn around and go see if she needs help.
I flipped my truck around to go find the lady and to see if I could assist her. She was nowhere to be found. I flipped around again, and still couldn’t find her. I looked and looked for her, but there was no evidence of a woman standing anywhere. There wasn’t anywhere she could have gone on that road without seeing her if she was walking somewhere! Then I felt this calming feeling in my heart that I did something right.
Some may say I was seeing things, or that she hitched a ride with someone else. But I believe she was an angel God had sent to help me in my spiritual training. To teach me to listen to the Holy Spirit… To be obedient to Him… And to show me how to help those strangers in need. That way the next time I see someone out in the dark, that looks in need, I won’t be so caught up in my life and hesitate to stop right away and be a light to them in their life & in this darkened world!
Remember, don’t be to caught up in your life that you pass by someone in need… God may be sending you to them in their time of need! You also just might be passing up an angel God has sent down to test you!
