The “in” Between ~ By Samuel Frauenstein
What happens when you run outta road? What happens when you look down to change gears and there just ain’t any left? Questions like these take me back to a time when I was a kid. My old man took me for a drive to talk about life and what it means to become a man. He pulled the car into a cemetery, turned off the ignition and we just sat there for a while. Not saying a single word. I didn’t know what to expect, then he said:”We are all the same. We all start off being born and we all end up here.” Chills ran down my spine. He said:”It’s the “in” between that matters.”
I was scared, almost numb, not about dying, that’s easy compared to walking a 700lbs yoke, I was scared of not leaving a mark. I was scared of not livin’ loud enough for my “in” between to matter. During my session last night, I was just going through the motions, then this thought hit me, is this the “in” between I want to leave behind? I want to leave a path of destruction behind. I want people looking on saying,:” There walks a force of nature”
All men die, we are all equal under the grass. I don’t care who you think you are. Respect is earned in the “in” between. We each have our own journey, in training, in life, in work, in relationships. Everything, even your workout has a start and an end. You hear people saying, finish hard… They think they know what matters, they have no idea. Its the “in” between that does. We spend our entire lives barring a moment, in the “in” between. Its a tough battle brothers, but one that only the truly motivated can step up to. It’s a step that is kept for the ones that want histoy to treat them kindly, the ones that want to leave a legacy. Do you?
For us Christians, death brings freedom. Freedom from the “in” between. For only in death will your “in” between be honored. In life we have so many directions to choose from, how do you know which leads to an “in” between that is worth dying for? I’ll tell you, but keep it to yourself, because it’s gonna be too much for most to handle…
Let strength and honor be your guide to an “in” between worth dying for.
